frank gibson photography (our latest news!)

Well, hey everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by!

It's always exciting to look at our calendar and anticipate the array of weddings that we are going to celebrate as the year unfolds.  Each one is so uniquely different and special.

We're always so amazed and delighted at how creative and flexible our brides are! Come rain (lots of it), or shine - never a dull moment and always a laugh or two!  That's what makes our job so much fun!

If you have any questions, please feel free to call and chat.. We also love to stay connected and in touch with our former brides and grooms too, so, if that's you stopping by, we hope you'll drop us a line and tell us what you've been up to!

Blessings!

Frank and Wendy

real life weddings ... the story of your day

christina and frank

We are smack-dab in the busiest time of the wedding season and are hoping to squeeze in a few posts of our recent engagement sessions very soon (we have some of the cutest couples for you to meet…)  BUT, we can’t resist blogging about our WEDDINGS!  Especially when we have the greatest couples in the world ~ like Christina and Frank!  Their wedding at the historic Carlyle House in downtown Norcross was so much fun.  These two were so laid-back and easy going, the day just seemed to zoom by!   Enjoy!

We thought this was such a cute idea!  The guests were asked to make a thumb print ‘leaf’ on the matted tree print and then sign their name to the leaf.  So, the bare tree went from this….

to this!  :-)

The wedding party decided to have a bit of fun with a piggy-back ride down the side street.  One piggy-back mishap had everyone laughing (once we knew there were no serious injuries ~ Christina’s sister was such a great sport!)

Thank you Christina and Frank and CONGRATULATIONS!!

rebekah and hunter

“I have found the one my heart loves.”    Song of Songs 3:4

Every wedding is so very special ~ months and months of planning and preparation have gone into making everything just perfect.  And, then the big day finally arrives and the reality of it all finally starts to sink in ~ wow, we’re getting married today!  Frank and I have known Rebekah and her family since she was BORN so you can imagine how wonderful (and emotional) this wedding day was ~ even for US!   Rebekah is also the youngest of three sisters and the last to get married, each just as precious, so it was a huge blessing getting to see everyone again and get a big HUG.   What a joyous celebration!   Enjoy!

Rebecca came up to Big Canoe to do a separate day bridal portrait before her wedding.  It’s always a lot of fun to have the opportunity to wear your dress for fit and comfort and to get your hair ‘just so’….. a trial run!  :-)

Rebekah and Hunter’s wedding was held in the beautiful sanctuary of First United Methodist in Marietta.  It was even more special because this is where Rebekah’s mom and dad were married years before!

I think the ‘waiting’ time just before the ceremony begins is one of my favorites!  The tiny window in the back of the sanctuary was the perfect spot to take a ‘peek’ as the music began….

Congratulations and hugs to Rebekah and Hunter!!!

kate and matt

This wedding season seems to be ZOOMING by ~ it’s hard to believe we’re half way through 2011 and July is just around the corner!  Kate and Matt’s late-May wedding was just what you would hope for!  A perfect day with just the right amount of sun and breeze, and a beautiful bride with her handsome groom in uniform.  Matt is a U.S. Marine and together they were such an elegant couple!  (thank you Matt for serving our country)   Their wedding ceremony was held at the lovely Catholic Shrine in downtown Atlanta.  Enjoy!

We loved the Arch of Swords (Sabers) Ceremony immediately following the wedding ceremony.  It is traditional, as the couple recesses through the arch of swords, that the last two men to make up the arch lower their swords in front of the couple, detaining them momentarily, while the sword bearer on the right, with his sword, gives the bride a gentle “swat” on the rump and utters, “Welcome to the Marines!”  I’m not sure how ‘gentle’ Kate’s swat was (ouch!) but she was a great sport and we all got a good laugh! :-)

The reception was held in Park Tavern’s light-filled Piedmont Room.  As always, it was so much fun having Tijen of Creme Events to keep the day running smoothly.  (thanks Tijen!)  And, all of the lovely flowers were designed and created by Ginger Bradshaw of Ginger Lily Events.

Thank  you Kate and Matt!  Blessings and Congratulations!!

erin and taylor

Frank and I had been looking forward to Erin and Taylor’s wedding ever since their engagement session last fall.   They were so much fun on that cool, autumn day ~ we just knew their wedding day was going to be extra special ~ we were so right!  Erin is one of those brides who is always smiling and everything is wonderful ~ she was so relaxed and easy-going ~ beautiful inside and out!   And, her lovely bridesmaids were just as attentive and helpful!   We started the day with some getting ready shots at the St. Regis Hotel in Buckhead.  Erin looked absolutely stunning in her La Raine’s wedding gown ~ enjoy!

Erin and her bridesmaids (and later the guys) were shuttled over to Northside United Methodist Church to get ready for the ceremony.  Erin’s gorgeous bouquet was designed and created by Foxgloves & Ivy.  Janice Blackmon of Janice Blackmon Events and her staff kept the day running smoothly (thank you Janice!)

After the ceremony, everyone hopped on the trolley and headed over to the Capital City Club Brookhaven for an elegant reception.

The Flavor band was fabulous and kept everyone rocking out on the dance floor!

…And they lived happily ever after… THANK YOU and Congratulation Erin and Taylor!!!

karolinne and george

Since Karolinne and George live out-of-state, Frank and I loved getting to know them through emails and phone calls in the months leading up to their wedding day.  Karolinne is Brazilian so when they also mentioned a late-night Brazilian ‘party’, we KNEW it was going to be FUN, FUN, FUN!  And, we were so right!  We absolutely loved these two and their families.  It was also super neat to arrive at The Mansion Hotel and realize we knew their minister, Rev. Curt Benham, and George’s sister, Joy, from mutual connections!  Everyone instantly became family!  What a fabulous day!

Amy Grace, Brooke, and Taylor were the perfect flower girls!

The wedding ceremony was held outside in The Mansion’s beautiful arcaded English Garden (so pretty!)

The Mansion’s Rosewood Room and Terrace looked exquisite for an evening of dinner and dancing.  Many thanks to Angela Page and her staff who kept the event running smoothly and to our newest friend and videographer,  Max Ramming who did an awesome job!

After the evening reception, everyone headed downstairs to the Mansion Lounge to continue celebrating in true Brazilian style ~ a masquerade party!!Thank you Karolinne and George!  What a fabulous wedding celebration!  Congratulations!
