frank gibson photography (our latest news!)

Well, hey everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by!

It's always exciting to look at our calendar and anticipate the array of weddings that we are going to celebrate as the year unfolds.  Each one is so uniquely different and special.

We're always so amazed and delighted at how creative and flexible our brides are! Come rain (lots of it), or shine - never a dull moment and always a laugh or two!  That's what makes our job so much fun!

If you have any questions, please feel free to call and chat.. We also love to stay connected and in touch with our former brides and grooms too, so, if that's you stopping by, we hope you'll drop us a line and tell us what you've been up to!

Blessings!

Frank and Wendy

real life weddings ... the story of your day

ansley and eric

We could hardly wait for Ansley and Eric’s wedding day!  Right from the start we knew their ‘Bohemiam-inspired’ backyard wedding was going to be extra special – a fun, laid back day with one of the sweetest couples ever!

After all the ups and downs of our April weather, their wedding day was absolutely beautiful – blue skies and puffy white clouds – and all of their close family and friends gathered around to celebrate with them … the most perfect day!

Congratulations and hugs to Ansley and Eric!  xx

marie-claire and jared

“The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”  Psalm 126:3

We’ve known Marie-Claire and her family for many years, so we felt especially blessed to be a part of their wedding season and celebrate right along with them!  We couldn’t wait to meet Jared (they were engaged in Paris!) – we knew that if Marie-Claire loved him, he must be EXTRA EXTRA special!  And, we were so right! They are so much fun – and even more so together!  Those smiles ….  ;)

As we communicated with Marie-Claire in the months leading up to their wedding, she told us that one of the things she was anticipating the most was ‘all the joy’ that would surround their wedding day – everything from getting ready in the morning to seeing Jared for the first time, pictures, the actual ceremony, and being with all of their family and friends.   JOY radiated off of both of them!  What a wonderful day!    Enjoy!

Despite the recent rain and squishy fields and walkways, Marie-Claire and Jared were super great sports and were up for the challenge to get some fun pictures – we all tip-toed around the muddy spots!

erin and alex

I’ve known Erin for quite a while so I was especially honored to photograph her wedding day!  As a wedding coordinator, Erin is a wedding day ‘expert’ but, being the professional that she is, she was able to hand over all of the details to Alyssa and enjoy her day to the fullest as THE BRIDE.  (and, sometimes that’s not an easy task!)

Erin and Alex’s December wedding day was chilly and cold but they were great sports and weren’t fazed in the least!  They were there to celebrate with family and friends and enjoy every single moment of their day!  It was a fabulous from beginning to end!  Enjoy!

Little Dylan was the cutest ring bearer ever!  And ON THE GO!

hillary and matt

We’ve loved getting to know Hillary and Matt (and their family!) in the months leading up to their wedding weekend!  They both live out-of-town so when they had a chance to be back in Big Canoe in late summer, we were super excited to be able to squeeze in a quick afternoon photo shoot.    They were both so relaxed and easy-going ~ it just set the stage for what was to come – their fabulous wedding day filled with joy, laughter, and fun as they celebrated with family and friends!

Hillary and her Dad did a First Look …. so special!

… and then her Bridesmaids!  :)

And one of our favorite moments – a first ‘family’ picture with Hillary and Matt’s doodle Savannah!

The Big Canoe Clubhouse looked especially BEAUTIFUL with all the wedding details …

jennie and daniel

It’s official.  If we ever decide to do a TOP TEN Favorite Venues list, Neverland Farms would have to be at the very top!  :D When Jennie and Daniel called last fall to tell us about their upcoming springtime wedding there, we were so excited!  We’ve been Neverland Farms FANS for a LONG, LONG, time and knew how incredibly beautiful it was with it’s rolling fields, stretches of winding, perfectly weathered, split-rail fencing, and picturesque views at every turn ~ the perfect backdrop for a wedding celebration!  And, to top off all this venue splendor, Jennie and Daniel are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet!  Yes, a pinch-yourself kind of wedding day from beginning to end!

Jennie looked absolutely beautiful in her Romona Kevaza wedding dress.

Jennie and her bridesmaids were having some fun ~ and watching out for a few fire ant hills along the way!  :O

Jennie and Daniel’s FIRST LOOK ~

The lovely, flower laden garden next to Moon Barn was a perfect setting for the ceremony.   Suzy Tebor, (owner of Neverland Farms), and her awesome team made everyone feel like family and kept the day running flawlessly ~

After the ceremony, guests were invited up to the expansive Main Hall for a cocktail hour, a fabulous dinner (Neverland’s specialty) and dancing under twinkling lights and a full-moon sky…

The Diane McIntosh Band was fabulous ~ no one wanted the evening to end!  They graciously played a few more sets that kept the party rocking!

And, what could be more fun than an extra-long sparkler send off (sparkling long enough to run the gauntlet twice) AND homemade cookies as a take-home favor!  Yum!

Congratulations and hugs to Jennie and Daniel!

mallory and patton

Sometimes you just know that you’re going to love a wedding.  Not that we don’t love all of our weddings in one way or another but some just seem to touch that tender spot.  When Mallory called well over a year before her wedding date, she was so bubbly and exuberant.  Her wedding was still a good way off but her enthusiasm won our hearts and we were so excited to hear all about her wedding day plans and details.  The touching part was that her Dad had recently passed away so her plans were bittersweet but even more special to us.  As we imagined, Mallory and Patton’s wedding day was beautiful and we were so honored to capture these memories….

Mallory and Patton decided to do a quick First Look before the ceremony…:D

Ansley and Sam were the perfect team as Flower Girl and Ring Bearer!

The Main Hall of nearby Chattahoochee Technical College was decorated beautifully for their reception celebration with large, lime green balloon lanterns, a candy station buffet featuring freshly made cotton candy spinning into swirls, and whimsical lights from floor to ceiling!

Congratulations and hugs to Mallory and Patton!!

kristen and steve

It has been such a joy and privilege getting to know Kristen and Steve and their families this past year.  They are all SO nice – those kind of families you want to get adopted into!  :D  So, needless to say, when their wedding day arrived and thunderstorms loomed large over their OUTDOOR CEREMONY, no one grumbled, complained, or worried endlessly.  ’It will all be okay‘ seemed to be the motto of the day.  And then it happened ~ just as we were getting ready to do the ‘First Look’, the bottom dropped out of the sky.  RAIN. POURING RAIN. DRIVING RAIN. (Did I mention this was an outdoor ceremony?)  :0  But, Kristen was so calm – ‘It’s going to pass‘, she said.  ’We’ll just wait a bit.‘  And, she was so right.  A few minutes later (and after lots of prayer), the dark clouds hastily moved out as blue skies and puffy white clouds drifted in ~ yay!  Groomsmen, family, and friends hurried to help wipe off seats and rearrange flowers and set-ups before the first guests began to arrive.  Perfection!  Now, THAT’S the way it’s done!  Enjoy!!

There’s something extra special about the first time a bride’s Dad sees his daughter in her wedding dress…especially when it’s like this…

Reverend George Callahan officiated the wedding ceremony at the ‘Canoe Lodge’ on Lake Sconti.

Big Canoe’s ‘Sconti Clubhouse’ was a perfect backdrop for their reception!  Every detail was beautiful!

And Joel Rabe kept everyone rocking out on the dance floor having a fabulous time!

michelle and mikhail

There are some couples that you just love to watch.  Not in a weird kind of way but because they seem so perfect together.  The way they smile when each other enters the room ~ the way they encircle their fingers together and laugh easily when family is nearby.  The way they embrace a loved one and show respect and genuineness to someone they’ve never met before ~ a slow dance of giving back….   This is Michelle and Mikhail.   And, we loved every minute of our day with them….Enjoy!

Michelle and Mikhail decided to do a ‘first look’ where he presented her with her bouquet…

The signing of the Ketubah with close family and friends is such a beautiful and intimate ceremony.

After the ketubah signing, we all jumped in our cars and headed over to the nearby historic Rhodes Hall ~ a perfect backdrop for pictures.

After the ceremony, there was a lovely cocktail hour for family and friends as they waited their turn for a formal portrait time.  Guests were then invited to the reception hall for an elegant, sit down dinner.

h

Michelle did a quick dress change before she and Mikhail wowed everyone with their ‘first dance’.  :)

And more dancing to the awesome rhythm and sound of Tevyeh Party Express!

After the last course of dinner was served, bountiful tables were set up with these beautiful desserts!

Congratulations and Hugs to Michelle and Mikhail!  :)

There’s nothing quite like old friends and weddings ~ it quickly reminds you of how time flies and brings together all the best of memories and emotions.  We’ve known Lauren’s family for many years and it was a joy and honor to be a part of this wedding day.  Such precious friends ~ what a perfect day! ~ enjoy!

Lauren’s mom surprised her by having this beautiful Scripture verse sewn into the hem of her wedding dress!

We loved Lauren and Ryan’s “arch of sabers” departure! :D

And what could be more fitting as an end-of-the-evening farewell nod than this beautiful Blue Moon?!

sara and evan

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since Sara and Evan came up to Big Canoe for their engagement pictures! It was early November and the fall color had actually just reached it’s peak!   We had the best time capturing these shots (they were so laid back and easy going) ~ we knew their wedding day was going to be extra special!  (wedding day images below!)  Enjoy!

We started Sara and Evan’s wedding day with getting ready shots at one of our favorite places ~ The Georgian Terrace.  Sara and her bridesmaids were enjoying all the pre-wedding excitement and were so helpful and fun!  Especially when we looked out the tall windows and saw rain pounding on the glass and running into puddles in the streets.  But, no worries!  We grabbed as many inside shots as possible and just as we were heading to the church, the rain let up and the skies cleared  ~ yay!

Their ceremony was held at the historic Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta.

After the ceremony, the wedding party jumped on the trolley and headed over to Piedmont Park to capture a few shots before the reception started … and the rain held off, despite those threatening clouds!   :D

Janice Blackmon and her team, and the Park Tavern staff, did a fabulous job of keeping all the details in check and creating this beautiful setting!

Congratulations and blessings to Sara and Evan!

rio and clark

We hope everyone is having a most wonderful week of ‘Thanks~Giving’.  We are so THANKFUL to each of YOU for the wonderful privilege of being a small part of your wedding celebrations ~ it’s a true honor that we don’t take lightly!  And, speaking of thanksgiving, it was such a blessing to photograph Rio and Dill’s late September wedding.  Rio had told us that her wedding ‘theme’ was ‘vintage and lace’ and that is exactly how it felt ~ especially with the beautiful setting of the historic (and always a favorite of ours), Braselton-Stover house.  Enjoy, enjoy!

Before the ceremony start time, Rio took a moment to read a note from Clark…

We have to brag on these bridesmaids and groomsmen!  They were such great sports as we traipsed around the grounds that were just a ‘bit too damp’ for heels and especially one brave groomsman who wasn’t feeling his best.  He had such a great attitude though and was more-than-determined to be in all the pictures.  We would grab a few shots, give him a minute to regroup, and then fire off a few more.  Now those are sweet friends!

Just as everyone gathered on the front porch to say goodbye, the clouds gave way to rain.  But, as the French say, “Mariage pluvieux, marriage heureux!”                  Rainy marriage, happy marriage! :D

Congratulations and hugs to Rio and Clark!

The weather was perfect (thank you October) and Lydia and Jason were relaxed and easy going.  It was also a special treat to have our mutual good friend, the Rev. When we step behind the camera lens, we know we are stepping into one of the most special days in the lives of our brides and grooms ~ the backstage area where the most intimate and precious moments unfold.  It’s a task we don’t take lightly and continually feel blessed to do!  Meghan and Charlie and their families quickly became endeared to us ~ thank you precious friends!  Enjoy!

One of our favorite moments of the day was Meghan’s Dad seeing Meghan in her dress for the first time, Meghan presenting each of her parents with a gift (what a special memory), and just the three of them taking a minute to pray … how precious is that?

bethany and taylor

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner (yes, this is a reminder to all you love birds!), we thought it appropriate to open Bethany and Taylor’s blog post with their ring shot – they had these awesome postcards on their reception foyer table for guests to sign as they came in!  So cute….  And, speaking of hearts and foreverness and all things romantically lovely ~ this describes Bethany and Taylor’s wedding day!  Bethany and Taylor are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet (we love these two) and their families are just as special.  Their entire easy-going day was full of joy, laughter, and the love they shared with their  family and friends that surrounded them. What a treat to share in this special day!  Enjoy ~ enjoy!

Bethany and Taylor decided to a First Look ~ the spacious balcony overlooking the city was the perfect spot!

After getting ready at Park Place, we headed over to Summerour Studio (one of our top favorite venues!) for the signing of the ketubah and wedding ceremony.

Laura Maddox and her team did a fabulous job of keeping the day running smoothly and bringing all the vendors and details together in such a seamless way!  Of course I’m sure it wasn’t as ’seamless’ as it looked but that’s what sets the professionals apart from the rest – they make it look so easy!   Everything was absolutely beautiful!  We loved hearing all the “oohs” and “aahs” as guests mingled into the elegant, (and meticulously transformed), reception area. Gorgeous!

This was so funny!  Frank ended up in the middle of the bouquet-toss-gone-awry and we all had a good laugh! :)

melissa and aaron

When Melissa called to tell us she was engaged, we were doubly excited!  Not only were we cheering for someone dear to our hearts (we’ve known her forever), we were thrilled for the privilege to capture her wedding day in pictures.  To make it even more special, her bridesmaids are all precious to us too – two of them are our former brides, one is a sister of two of our brides, and the other is our own daughter, Griffin!  Super fun!!  And, to top off all this ‘wonderfulness’, getting to know Aaron and his family was a true delight – we loved every one of them.  Yes, we have the best job ever …  Enjoy!  :D

Melissa and Aaron’s wedding weekend started off with a beautiful Bridesmaids Luncheon at The Swan Coach House and their evening Rehearsal Dinner at Maggiano’s.  The next morning was a flurry of rollers, make-up, and lots of laughter as everyone enjoyed their ‘getting ready’ time at Melissa’s lovely home ~

Melissa wore this beautiful wrap that belonged to her grandmother – so special!

And we know Melissa won’t mind us bragging on her ‘quick recovery’ as she juggled Aaron’s wedding band – we were all very impressed!  :D

After the ceremony we headed over to the beautiful Piedmont Estate and Gardens for their reception ~ Amy Bender and the entire staff of Legendary Events did an outstanding job ~ perfection at every turn!   And, the exquisite flowers were a labor of love from Melissa’s Uncle Curt and family friend, Velve Luuk.  Lovely!

Do they have cool parents or what?!  A First Dance judging score of ‘10′ and a surprise special dance from Aaron’s family!

Stephanie and Brent decided to do a First Look so we chose the small garden next to the sanctuary – their smiles said it all …

“joy delights in joy!” william shakespeare

The entire time I was picking out images to use for Amanda and Dmitry’s blog post, I was smiling.  I’m sure if someone had randomly passed my way they would have wondered what the inside joke was! :-D  But, there was no joke, just the contagious JOY from Amanda and Dmitry’s wedding day, inspired by her ever-smiling Dad!  To witness it was such a blessing … a joy that radiated to everyone around him!  And, Amanda, Dmitry, and their entire families were just the same!  Our jaws were sore from smiling by the time the last handful of lavender was thrown as they departed… joy delighting in joy!  What a marvelous day!!

Amanda’s Dad peeked in to see her in her dress … yes, I was teary too …

Amanda and Dmitry had their ‘First Look’ before the signing of the ketuba.

Even with the imminent threat of rain on their outdoor ceremony, everyone took their places and didn’t miss a beat!  Thankfully, the rain held off until later that evening! Perfect!

Magnolia Hall at Piedmont Park was absolutely gorgeous and such a beautiful backdrop for a reception celebration!  Laura Wright of Soiree South & Co. did a fabulous job of keeping all the details organized (such a HUGE job) and everything running smoothly ~ what a treat to have her with us!

And there are more of those smiles … go ahead and admit it … I know you’re smiling too!   :-D

Everyone huddled under the awning as they departed – throwing lavender that landed down our shirts, inside our lenses, under our collars, and deep in our pockets…our equipment smelled wonderful for weeks!  :-D

molly and charles

Molly and Charles’s wedding day in beautiful Rome, GA was just about as perfect as it gets….Their weather was sunny with blue skies and puffy clouds (lately, a rare phenomenon for a weekend in Georgia!) and those pretty spring colors were popping all around!  Frank and I left home really, really, early to be sure we had time to duck into the Honeymoon Bakery in downtown Rome.  (Yes, we love food THAT much and it’s worth a field trip for it’s yummy-ness!)  I told Frank we should take a picture of our loaded up box of goodies we bought but I’m afraid we were nibbling before we even got back in the car!   So, all that to say, we were definitely caffeine and pastry ready to begin this spectacular day!

Molly and Charles and their families were so much fun – everyone was relaxed and having a good time ~ it was all about celebrating this wonderful day!  Molly looked stunning in her show-stopping Anna Maier-designed wedding gown – it had a fabulous pale pink underlay that was so, so, pretty and unusual!  And, to make it even more special, Molly wore the mantilla that her mom wore in her wedding…Gorgeous!

And, not to be outdone in the fashion department, Charles and his groomsmen were sporting custom-made bow ties ~ pretty cool!

We loved these shots (above) of Charles getting his first really good look at Molly in her dress – his smile says it all! :-D

ashley and justin

Yes…isn’t it beautiful!?  Ashley and Justin’s wedding day at Rustix Manor was over-the-top FUN, FUN, FUN and perfect in every way!  Owners of Rustix Manor, Steve and Karen Marcinko were such gracious hosts, and, with the fabulous help of Gabbie Murphy,  they made sure every detail was in place ~ a terrific team all the way around!

You just cannot, I repeat, CAN NOT, rely on the weather forecast when it comes to wedding planning.  When we checked the local weather the night before Ashley and Justin’s wedding day, it was doom and gloom ~ I mean a 100% (without a doubt), yep,  it’s gonna rain, kind of forecast.  But, as we drove toward their venue the next morning, the dark clouds slowly drifted away and beautiful blue skies peeked through ~ grace rounded the corner and voila!  THE perfect day!  But, Frank and I had no doubt that whatever the weather turned out to be, Ashley and Justin were going to be absolutely fine…they were smiling and joyous, just excited to be surrounded by family and friends.  What more could you ask for?  Enjoy!

Ashley AND her bridesmaids were such great sports – We did hear a few ‘ewwws!’ coming from the barn but they held on for that perfect shot!

Rustix Manor has it’s own ‘chapel’ on the grounds which is a beautiful ceremony backdrop ~

And, look what Ashley was willing to do to get the scenic covered bridge shot!  Those stepping stones were even trickier than they look!

(Oh, and we won’t mention the perfectly formed spider web over their heads….  shhh….)   :-D

Remember that 100% chance of rain?  Well…it happened, just as the evening came to a close!  But, it made for an awesome send-off with sparklers and fireworks over the lake!  Woo Hoo!

Congratulations and HUGS to Ashley and Justin!!

brett and jack

It was raining more than cats and dogs as Frank and I headed to Rayle, GA for Brett and Jack’s wedding day.  (Okay, no biggie, it’s a gentle rain…it will blow on by….we were sure of it.)  When we arrived at Brett’s parents’ beautiful home, the rain was still coming down but we scanned the sky, hopeful for any tiny breaks in the clouds.  It couldn’t possibly rain all day…they were having an outdoor reception in the backyard! There was NO WAY  this weather would have the nerve to continue.  (hmmm)  It was raining as Brett put on her makeup and did the final touch-ups on her hair and it continued to rain as she prepared to slip on her wedding dress, hanging so perfectly wrapped and tucked with tissue.   Weren’t those April showers supposed to be bringing us May FLOWERS…not more rain?…

But, here’s the neatest part of this story…Brett was as calm as a cucumber.  Even though rain wasn’t in the plans, it was all going to be okay.  Their home had expansive porches and lovely afternoon light coming through the windows, and the biggest tent ever ~ were were good for pictures!  And, with the incredible help from her wonderful family, wedding party, event team, and awesome wedding planner Debra, everyone kicked into high gear and made the day a memory maker!

Brett looked gorgeous in her Christos gown – yes, her smile was contagious! :-D

And, of course the guys are never deterred by a little rain…they were looking really handsome too!

After the church ceremony, there was a lull in the rain – yes!  We hurried to capture a few shots on the now squooshy lawn – Brett was such a good sport as her high heels slowed oozed down into the grass.

Epting Events transformed the backyard tent into rustic elegance with incredible flower arrangements gracing the tables and serving areas. Guests were treated to Epting’s famous, made-to-order, hand-stirred pralines ~ delicious!

And the reception was SO MUCH FUN!  As the rain continued to come down, guests donned boots or their extra-comfy shoes, rolled up their longer dresses in neat little knots to keep them dry, and danced the night away with the Sensational Sounds of Motown!  What a fabulous celebration!

ely and art

One of the neatest aspects of being a wedding photographer is getting to know the bride and groom and their families ~ not just on their wedding day but from the first phone call conversation to the last goodbye wave of their wedding day departure.  We have the special honor of stepping behind the camera and catching all the love and emotion of one of the most important and joyous days in a family’s life ~ a wedding ~ wow!  And, each wedding is so unique ~ no two are ever the same.  So, let me introduce you to one of the most special brides we’ve had the privilege of shooting (and, of course, her fabulous groom!)… meet Ely and Art ~ our wedding day ‘Couple of the Year’ ~ yes, keep reading…

Ely’s first phone call came almost one year out from her wedding date and we knew immediately that we were going to love them and everything about their wedding and reception ~ they’re just those kind of folks!  :D    The details – ceremony in front of the Atlanta History Center’s gorgeous Swan House and reception across the walkway in the Grand Ballroom – fabulous!

The weather that morning was perfect.  A bit overcast but that’s always a real PLUS for us!  It gives us just the right amount of light without the harsh glare of afternoon sun.  Ely and her bridesmaids looked beautiful and Art and the groomsmen were doing what the guys do best – whatever we needed to get the shots.  (guys sometimes get a bad rap ~ they were super!)

So, all was set.  The exquisite Boxwood Gardens on the side lawn was beautifully decorated and ready for the post-ceremony cocktail hour. Guests had arrived and were seated on the expansive front lawn.  Lisanne and Brittany of Watermark Weddings had triple-checked every detail ~ perfection!…Let the ceremony begin!  Ely and her Dad made their grand entrance out the front doors of the Swan House and down the long staircase to her waiting groom …and it began to sprinkle…just a few light drops…okay….

…and then a bit harder …and harder …and HARDER!   You could see people looking at each other, trying to decide the best moves to make in an ever-growing crazy situation.  Ely’s sister grabbed an umbrella to help shield Ely from the increasing downpour.  Guests created make-shift umbrellas from anything they could get their hands on… I dropped my camera into one of our bags and grabbed the umbrella we had brought (just in case ~ whew!) and ran to hold it over Frank’s head as he continued to shoot… the rain wasn’t letting up…it was raining harder… But Ely smiled.  Art smiled.  Their wedding party never budged.  It kept raining.  The officiant couldn’t see his papers because his glasses were soaking wet and fogging faster than he could wipe them off.  Oh my.  Could this be happening?  Ely and Art clutched hands and kept smiling.  This was their wedding day…

And so you can just imagine…they hurried through their vows – ‘We do, we DO!’ and everyone made a run for cover!  Everyone was soaked. (Have you ever taken a shower and dried off with a cloth dinner napkin?  It can be done…)  :-D   As we huddled on the side porch of the Swan House, Ely and Art tried their best to get composed – they were GREAT ~ we were AMAZED.  You know, your best and worst comes out under pressure and these two were nothing short of wonderful!  A side note – remember OUR bags that we left as we continued to shoot?  Well, an amazing, sweet lady offered to shield them with her tiny umbrella, but after the ceremony, they were nowhere to be found.  I’m talking about ALL of our equipment – lenses, camera bodies, etc.  As the rain had continued, guests ran for cover.  We found out later that some kind guests had whisked our bags away to protect them from the pouring rain – and these were HEAVY bags.  We finally found them at the reception, securely watched over by another guest.  We were (and still are) forever grateful – thank you again kind friends!

As guests, family, and wedding party dried off as best they could, the reception at the Grand Ballroom Overlook got under way – everything looked beautiful!

And, once again, our absolutely favorite band, The Party Nation, got things rockin’ and everyone had a BLAST!  Rain, what rain?!  Let’s celebrate!

Congratulations and hugs and HATS OFF to Ely and Art!   WOO HOO!

happy birthday to our sweetie!

“All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.”
(Psalm 139:16)

Happy Birthday (TODAY!) to our sweetie who received the greatest birthday gift ever this past Saturday night …. marrying the man of her dreams and our fabulous new ’son-in-love’.  We love you both!  Happy Birthday honey!

erica and michael

We are so blessed to be a part of one of the most special days in a couple’s life ~ and it’s also a HUGE blessing to get to know their families.  There’s just something about sharing in a moment (or a season) of celebration that connects you for years to come.  Erica and Michael and their families are endeared to us forever.  Their day was such a mixture of joy, family, serenity, reflection, tradition, exuberance, and LOVE ~ Oh my what fun!  Enjoy!!

After everyone was dressed and ready to go, we left the Intercontinental Hotel and headed over to one of our favorite venues ~ Summerour!

Erica and Michael’s First Look

After the Tisch and Bedeken, Erica and Michael signed the Ketubah

There is a tradition whereby the bride walks around the groom seven times before the rabbi begins the wedding ceremony. There are several interpretations of the significance of this number: seven is the number of days of creation, and the wedding ceremony is the creation of a new household; seven is the number of times the phrase “when a man takes a wife” occurs in the Bible; seven is the number of times Joshua circled the walls of Jericho in order to bring them down, and in circling her groom a bride brings down any wall that may remain between them.
Seven also represents ‘perfection and completeness’….what a precious moment…

Laura Maddox (and her fabulous team from Magnolia Events) and Monica Zanger (Novarre Events) worked diligently with all the vendors to ensure every single detail was perfection! The reception room looked absolutely beautiful!

The Atlanta Party Band did a fabulous job but I don’t think Erica and Michael’s family and friends needed any help ~ they were there to celebrate and celebrate they did!  (Okay, maybe my feet were tapping a bit too much and maybe I did have to hold back from jumping in and dancing along with them….)  hehe!   SO MUCH FUN!

leann and brian

I remember how excited I was when Leann emailed to tell us she was engaged! Frank was out of town but I knew he would be doubly excited too!  Frank had worked with Leann in the corporate environment for years, traveling to various places around the United States and Canada, shooting annual events.  But, this was going to be something even more special!  Leann as the bride!  :D And, we were so right!  Leann was radiant and beautiful and never stopped smiling … even when the weather went from misty clouds to heavy rain … it only made the day more romantic and cozy… absolutely perfect in every way!

The winding drive up to The White Oaks Barn is spectacular with it’s expansive, rolling fields and fencing …

A First Look and quick hop into the rain for an ‘outside’ shot ~

Shortly before the outdoor ceremony was supposed to start, Leann and Brian had to make ‘the call’.  Move the ceremony into the barn or take a chance outside, hoping the rain clouds would stall at the Three Sisters mountain range until after the ceremony … It looked too ‘iffy’….let’s move it inside…. And, beautiful it was.  With the barn’s twinkling lights, the big barn doors opened wide, and family and friends gathered close, it couldn’t have been any more lovely!

Leann’s aunts and uncles created this beautiful array of desserts … how special is that?!

Congratulations and hugs to Leann and Brian!

lucy and brent

It’s always so much fun when Frank and I head to Athens to shoot a wedding ~ we get there extra early so we can duck into Jittery Joe’s to get super-caffeinated and then pop next door to Earth Fare Grocery to grab the best ever Sugar and Ginger cookies… (oh, you’ve gotta try these!)

On Lucy and Brent’s wedding day, the skies were blue and sunny with the perfect mixture of poofy (that means extra puffy) clouds!  An absolutely PERFECT day!

Lucy was getting ready at Hotel Indigo in downtown Athens so we started their day with some getting ready shots in the Grand Piano Suite ~ so lovely!

Lucy and Brent decided to do a First Look so the outside patio seemed like the perfect spot.  (We loved Brent’s huge smile when he saw Lucy for the first time.)  By the way, these two were so laid back and easy going – it was a JOY to be with them all day.  They were all about enjoying every minute with each other and celebrating with family and friends – so sweet….

After some quick shots everyone jumped on the trolley and headed over to the Thompson House and Gardens to get some more pictures and prepare for the ceremony to start ~ what a beautiful place for a wedding!

Diana Lightsey of Consultants-Unlimited and the Thompson House staff did a fabulous job of keeping the day running smoothly with attention to every detail.  And, it’s always a treat to hear The Flavor Band ~ they were fantastic as usual and kept everyone rockin’ out on the dance floor!  Can you say FUN?!

marae and scott

One of the questions we often ask our brides is what they’re anticipating the most about their wedding day.  They always say they are so excited to be married and how special it will be to see their groom for the first time.  But another exciting aspect of the wedding day is exactly what Marae said, “I can’t wait to have all of our loved ones in one place!” It really is such a HUGE blessing – family and friends who have come from near and far to celebrate your special day … just for you.  And Marae and Scott’s wedding day at the gorgeous Lake Lanier Islands Resort was just that … a wonderful celebration from beginning to end!

Sometimes we wonder if ALL weddings at Neverland Farms are so gloriously lovely with the venue only permitting brilliant blue skies and sunny days.  Every wedding we’ve shot there has been the same … perfectly beautiful.  We know Suzy and her staff spend hours attending to every detail, but hmmm…. :D  Well, Karen and Rob’s wedding day at Neverland Farms was no exception and it couldn’t have been any prettier!  The end of September heralded all the first hints of fall with a light breeze and touches of color brushing the tips of the leaves …

Karen and Rob were so precious.  Their love and attentiveness to one another reminded us of this verse,

“The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy!”  Psalm 126:3

Rob definitely set a new standard for all of our grooms (and groomsmen) … how many guys can do THIS on the dance floor?!

It’s been so much fun picking out which images to use for Lauren and Michael’s blog post.  As we were thinking back to when Lauren first emailed us, we remembered that we were smack dab in the middle of the Christmas holiday season, exactly one year ago right now!  Wow, that’s so special because it quickly reminded us of how much we love getting to know our brides and grooms and how quickly the months fly by as their wedding date draws near!

Lauren and Michael originally thought they might have their wedding at a local Atlanta venue but decided to do it in Athens, GA because  ’that’s where they met and they LOVE it so much!’  awwww, we loved that … and, of course, you all already know how much we love going there!  :)

Their October wedding day was absolutely beautiful … the just-what-you’ve-dreamed-of, perfect fall day!  Enjoy, enjoy!

Kelly and Jason’s early November wedding at Berry College was smack dab in the middle of the most beautiful fall color!  We always tend to think of October as the ‘fall color’ month but this November held on with show-stopping brilliance!

leah and greg

Just as nice as nice can be … that Leah and Greg … yep, they’re pretty special.

Their wedding day at The Piedmont Room at Park Tavern was sunny with blue skies but it was COLD.  The Tavern had fires going downstairs and curtains drawn so ‘cozy’ was the word for the day.  But, the cold never bothered this gang.  Everyone was having such a great time just being together ~ they even braved the cold and wind to take a few minutes to go out into the park to grab a few shots.

(we almost got away with some carousel pictures but were quickly reprimanded by the Park guard – uh oh!)       :)

After an intimate ceremony with family and friends, the Piedmont Room was transformed into the place for everyone to gather for a blow out, awesome reception featuring the music of Nelson Brownstone band.   What a wonderful day!

valerie and zac

After all the cold, ice, and snow we’ve had in Georgia this winter, we were simply amazed and delighted to have the most beautiful, spring like day for Valerie and Zac’s March wedding!  It was so pretty outside we all wanted to pinch ourselves … just a few days before it was bitter cold and rainy!  The skies were a perfect powdered blue and the first flowering buds were just starting to burst open on trees and bushes.  And to top off all this loveliness, Valerie and Zac were so much fun!  Valerie’s beautiful smiles never ceased ~ it was all about family, friends, and love … that precious time of celebrating two extra special people … enjoy!

Our wedding season is in full swing so we’re trying to post all of our beautiful Spring weddings as quickly as we can ~ so much loveliness!  Becky and Jon’s wedding a few weeks ago was AWESOME!  I think we’re still laughing and smiling from such a good time!  It was sunny but windy (very, very, windy) but nothing was going to stop these two from having a blast.  And, of course, the Barn at Tatum Acres was decked out in it’s finest for such a special occasion.  Absolutely beautiful!  Enjoy!

nina and zack

Someone recently asked us what we thought about late morning weddings as opposed to afternoon or evening.  We didn’t even have to hesitate to say,  ’Yes!  We love them!  And, especially when they’re like Nina and Zack’s!”  :D  Although it’s a bit trickier for a bride, groom, family, and wedding party to pull it all off  (everyone has to get up extra early to get going), it’s always a hands-down favorite!   Much of this reasoning is that there’s no drawn out wait throughout the day (which sometimes creates anxiety), and when the reception is over, the bride and groom aren’t exhausted and tired but ready to hit the road for their honeymoon!  xxx

Nina and Zack’s late morning wedding at Canoe was pulled off with perfect style and grace!  When Frank and I arrived at the St. Regis Hotel for some getting ready shots, Nina and her Mom were already bubbly and  awake ~ ready to celebrate this perfectly beautiful day!  Hair and makeup done, dressed slipped on, and a stunning backdrop from their balcony suite ~ we were set to go!

Canoe’s riverfront was the perfect backdrop for Nina and Zack’s wedding ceremony …  The sky was the bluest blue and all the early spring flowers were showing off their vibrant color.  It couldn’t have been any prettier!  Perhaps that’s why Nina and Zack never stopped smiling … or maybe it’s just all that love …  :D

denice and brian

One of the most amazing things about being a photographer is how blessed we are to get to know so many special people and be a part of one of the most amazing days in a couple’s life!  Even in the days and weeks leading up to a wedding, we are privileged to become intimate with the details of the day … how every tiny element of time and place has been thought through and planned out.  Denice and Brian’s wedding day was truly unique ~ elegant and simple … woven together with the most important things … family and tradition.  As soon as we stepped into their family home, we became not only the photographers, but welcomed participants in this joyous and momentous day!  Wow, what an honor to be embraced in such a special way and share in their joy and love!

The traditional Coptic Orthodox wedding has so many wonderful traditions that were firsts for us ~ we especially loved how Brian was waiting at the sanctuary door to meet Denice and walk her down the aisle … so sweet …

tracey and matt

There’s just something special about rolling fields, cowboy boots, horses, and an expansive barn that announces, ‘hey, this is gonna be a FUN, FUN, FUN kinda day!’  And we were so right!  Tracey and Matt’s wedding day was heralded by a brilliant blue sky and puffy white clouds that were worn like a jeweled crown on the beautiful Wright Farm setting.  The Wright Farm is a hidden gem of a wedding venue that’s tucked into the pastoral countryside of Roopville, GA, just about an hour’s drive from downtown Atlanta.  Oh yes, it’s lovely…

Tracey and Matt were so relaxed and easy-going … it was all about being with family and friends and celebrating their special day!

And what could be more treasured and memorable than this horse-drawn buggy that belonged to Tracey’s grandparents?!  Her Grandpa and Grandma bought them when they first married and over the years, her Grandpa lovingly restored them to their original beauty!  They were transported all the way from Illinois just for their wedding day! With the holidays upon us, we’re hurrying to (hopefully) post a peek at all of our beautiful fall weddings!  We’re always amazed at how unique and different each wedding is ~ we love that!  Cason and Brian’s Chateau Élan wedding was just as pretty as we imagined it would be!  When we asked Cason what she was anticipating most about her upcoming wedding day she said … ‘the moment I see Brian at the beginning of the ceremony, saying our vows, and celebrating with family and friends’.   Well, that says everything …  <3

Sweet little Caroline decided that barefoot was THE way to go … much better than those tight, new shoes … xxx

And, Cason was true to her word ~ she didn’t take even one quick peek at Brian before she walked down the aisle …

As promised, here are a few more images from Leslee and Blake’s beautiful December wedding in Highlands, NC at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn.  The entire weekend of weather was spectacular (almost mild which was unbelievable) and as perfect as we could have hoped for! (click here for Part One)

Leslee was such a great sport!  Despite the milder temperatures, it was still a bit nippy but she wasn’t deterred in the least and never stopped smiling… gorgeous! (…the shimmering glow in the water is actually ICE on the pond!)

And, those little moments you’ll remember forever – the ones that make your wedding memories extra special?  Leslee’s long veil caught on her Dad’s shoe just after he kissed her and it came completely off … but after a quick ‘oh no’ glance from onlookers, it was all smiles and laughs and the ceremony continued on without skipping a beat – now that’s the way it’s done!  :D

At the start of every new year, we are always so excited to begin our wedding season and think about all the different styles, personalities, and ideas that will be poured into each wedding day …vows given in a secluded back-yard garden with a handful of close family and friends, high on a mountaintop at sunset, or in the glitter and bustle of the city with the grandeur of a ballroom and full orchestra. All so unique and special!

It was an honor to enter our 2015 Wedding Season with Karen and Michael’s beautiful wedding at White Oaks Barn.   Despite the chilly January temperatures, everyone had the best time – surrounding Karen and Michael with love and joy in their celebration!

Congratulations to Karen and Michael!

jacquelyn and cody

With all the extremes of cold winter weather we’ve had the first part of this year, Wendy and I were really hoping and praying that Jacquelyn and Cody’s mid-March wedding day weather was going to be over-the-top perfect and we weren’t a bit disappointed.  It was one of those first, early spring-like days ~exactly what we were looking for!  Jacquelyn and Cody were so much fun – it was all about family and being together to celebrate – and of course, FRANK was THE official name of the day … There were three other ‘Franks’ in Jacquelyn’s family so I was in good company!   (I officially adopted them all.)  What a great day!  Enjoy!  :D

‘I have found the one whom my soul loves’  Song of Solomon 3:4

We had been watching the weather forecast for days and it wasn’t looking good.  60%, 70%, 90% chance of rain all afternoon … and those ominous and foreboding clouds kept growing.  We had extra umbrellas all ready to go, along with tall boots for possible trekking across the fields – it was Kristin and Stephen’s wedding day and it was going to be spectacular no matter what!  …

And then there was Kristin … just laid back and easy-going.  Not a worry to be had!  Rain?!  No problem.  It’s all going to be perfect!

We hurried as much as possible to out-shoot the rain clouds – JUST. IN. CASE.

As the ceremony start time got closer, Kristin and Stephen had to make ‘the call’.  Inside or out?  Outside was much too beautiful to not take a chance on (The Walters Barn and grounds are GORGEOUS) … so outside it was!  And, besides a quick sprinkle or two just before the ceremony began, everything was absolutely perfect!  The sun even peeked out from behind a cloud during the ceremony … giving an approving nod to such a joyous occasion…

Congratulations and blessings to Kristin and Stephen!

When Kayla and Ryan told us, “We just can’t wait to marry each other and are so excited to celebrate with family and friends!”, we knew we were in for a real treat on their wedding day!  It was definitely all about THAT and oh my goodness … SO MUCH FUN!  We loved being with them all and sharing in this joy-filled day!

Kayla looked absolutely beautiful!  And, it was an extra special treat to have their chocolate lab, Stella, there to share in all the festivities ~ from the ceremony to the last goodbye, Stella was a perfectly well-mannered lady and everyone’s favorite wedding guest.

Ryan’s first glimpse of Kayla was priceless!  xx

And this gang!  I think we all laughed until our jaws hurt!  :D

Let all thy joys be as the month of May,
And all thy days be as a marriage day.
~Francis Quarles~

It’s not normal for me to be at a loss for words when it comes to weddings.  Frank and I love everything about them and it always seems to be THE topic of conversation at our house.  :D  But when it comes describing what it means to photograph weddings for friends who are like family … when you not only step behind the camera to capture the day but also see with that extra part of your heart … it’s just incredibly special.

We had been anticipating everything about Caroline and Jay’s wedding at St. Simon’s for months and when the weekend finally arrived, we were over-the-top excited to see everyone and give them a hug.  As we walked up to the beautiful Wesley United Methodist Church for the Friday evening rehearsal, the music began to play – musicians rehearsing before everyone arrived … Trumpet Voluntary in D, and I had a huge lump in my throat.  Frank was fine – I was a puddle.  Needless to say, I had to quickly regain my composure – happy tears had to wait! And, that was just the beginning of an incredible weekend of joy!

Caroline and Jay’s wedding day couldn’t have been any more perfect.  It was just a bit overcast (yay) and any chance of late afternoon or evening showers was at a minimum.  We were ready to go with a quick stop at the Salon and then on to the church!

Caroline looked absolutely beautiful …

Caroline and Jay decided to do a ‘First Look’ in the church’s Wesley Memorial Garden.  We loved these smiles when they saw each other for the first time…

Of course we were all smitten over Baby Kate! xx

The ceremony was extra special with Caroline’s uncles officiating and Emily singing a solo – so beautiful.

After a handful of formal shots in the sanctuary, we headed over to Village Creek Landing for the reception.  The views were breathtakingly spectacular and the sunset light seemed to change personalities every few minutes – it was so pretty!  Confederate jasmine was blooming everywhere and I whispered to Caroline that those smells would always remind me of her wedding day…

Legacy Music kept everyone partying on the dance floor with a special surprise trumpet accompaniment from Caroline’s dad, Stan!  (and Uncle Jeff on the drums!) How cool is that?  :D

What a fabulous day Caroline and Jay!  Wishing you both the greatest blessings and a big hug! xoxo

Even though we’re smack dab in the middle of this extra busy time of year with all of our beautiful weddings, we just have to take a minute to brag on our awesome brides and grooms!  Here’s a quick peek at Claire and Justin’s lovely mid-May wedding at (our always favorite) White Oaks Barn.  The weather was over-the-top perfect and Claire and Justin couldn’t have been any nicer, kinder or more attentive to each other and those around them … it was all about family and being together – what a fabulous day!

natalie and chad

It was almost a year ago when we met up with Natalie and Chad in Athens, GA to shoot their engagement pictures.  We had been corresponding for a few months and we couldn’t wait to spend some time with them, hanging out and walking around the UGA campus.  Well, after about 30 minutes in the heat, we knew that these two were going to be SO MUCH FUN.  It was uncomfortably warm and sticky for early September but it didn’t faze them.  We walked everywhere – Natalie in these oh-so-cute tiny heels and looking like a million dollars and Chad hanging in there like a champ.  Yep.  True professionals at this picture thing.  We LOVED it and knew we were in for an extra special treat on their wedding day.

Oh, we were so right!  Natalie and Chad’s fabulous wedding day at Chateau Elan Vineyards and Winery was absolutely beautiful!  Yes, it was HOT outside but Natalie and Chad and their entire wedding party were such great sports.  Despite the mugginess (and those tiny little gnats that kept wanting to hide in the layers and layers of Natalie’s gorgeous wedding dress), no one complained.  Champagne, blush, gold … and a ‘hint of bling’ … oh yes, we’re still smiling at these!  xx

And of course, even their Signature Drink had a bit of sparkle and glam!

Glittery cake toppers, monogrammed glasses, a 30th birthday cupcake, look-alike wedding cookies (the cutest favor!) and Uncle Bill!  Oh my goodness, everyone needs an Uncle Bill!

Congratulations and hugs to Natalie and Chad!  You guys … !  xo

anna and christoph

I know we’ve said it over and over again but it’s oh so true!  Each and every wedding we photograph is amazingly unique and beautiful and totally a reflection of our couples as their individual personalities shine through.  We knew right away that Anna and Christoph’s wedding day was going to veer off from the ‘ordinary’.  For starters, they opted for a morning wedding that included a fabulous champagne brunch complete with custom made waffles, yummy, thick-sliced bacon, fresh fruit, and creamy scrambled eggs – perfection!  And when we asked Anna what time she thought they wanted to start pictures she said, ‘whenever we can get the guys up and going!’  :D  We loved their easy-going, laid-back wedding plans – all because we knew that their day (and entire weekend) was all about family, friends, and sharing their love with everyone that had supported them through the years … happiness and joy abounding!

Anna even wore her Mom’s vintage wedding dress … so pretty!

Did we mention that this was no ‘ordinary’ wedding day?  After a quick departure through the bubbles, Anna and Christoph weren’t done with their adventurous fun!  They decided to top off their fabulous day with a quick celebratory jump into the swimming lake!  We’re still laughing at how much we loved this!  (We’ll let you know what Anna’s mom thought…)  :D  Never a dull moment around here!

Congratulations and lots of hugs to Anna and Christoph!

We arrived at the Jasperse lovely family home wearing our trusty rain boots.  This was actually a big first.  We’re always over-the-top optimistic when it comes to wedding day weather even though we’ve been known to toss our boots in the back seat ‘just in case’.   But this time we knew we were going to need them.  It had been raining off and on all week and dark, foreboding, clouds were still lingering over the nearby foothills.  We were hoping this weather system would move on … move out.   Oh, goodness … it was Mary Alice and Ross’s wedding day!

Y’all!  (this really needs a ‘y’all here!)  Do you see this LOVELY garden?  Mary Alice’s Dad planted every single flower seed and bulb and tended every stem with care.  Just to create this GORGEOUS, one-of-a-kind ceremony backdrop.  And now rain?  But do you see these smiles?  Mary Alice wasn’t fazed in the least.  It was her wedding day and she was beyond excited to share it with family and friends!

The wind kicked up and started swirling leaves and misty raindrops.  But do you know what?  I think it suited Mary Alice just fine!  She was delighted!  Was I imagining it or did I even hear her say that if it was up to her, they would have the ceremony in the pouring rain?  :D

And this sweet Dad … look at that fresh coat of red paint on the barn!  Yep, thanks Dad!  xx  And Mom Marcia too!  Working behind the scenes until the very last second!  They both get the parent ’super star’ awards!

We knew that the rain was coming so we had to shoot quickly!  Everyone was such a great sport, jumping in and out of the raindrops that were gaining momentum.

a quick First Look near the muscadine vines and apple orchard

And just as guests began to arrive, the rain started.  Everyone lent a hand to hurry and move all the chairs under the big tent.

After the ceremony ended, the rain let up enough to grab these wonderful moments – we were so very grateful!

What a WONDERFUL day!  Congratulations and big hugs to Mary Alice and Ross!  xoxo

With all the holiday festivities quickly approaching, we’re trying to pop up a few, quick, ‘mini-posts’ to show off our awesome couples and their unique wedding personalities!  RAIN seemed to be the theme of some of our recent weddings but, despite all the drippy, wet conditions, we absolutely LOVE how our brides just seem to go with the flow and embrace all the facets of their day!  Kathy and Alex were thrilled to be surrounded by their family and friends and a ‘little’ rain wasn’t going to spoil their joy! ;D

Just after the ceremony, Kathy and Alex took a few minutes to have some fun!

November weddings are truly some of our favorites.  Everyone is so excited about the upcoming holidays and that festive spirit of celebration and the joy of gathering loved ones together is in the air!  Brittany and Evan’s end of November wedding at The Chimneys in Big Canoe was absolutely lovely!  The fall color lingered on in the tips of the trees and the late afternoon light seemed to cast a bronze glow over the entire day … beautiful.   And what was Brittany most looking forward to? … “Finally being married to my best friend.”   We think that says just about everything … xoxo

It’s always a treat when we can stop to catch our breath (even if just for a minute or two) and take a peek back on the year that just transpired.  It’s hard to believe that we are already rolling headlong into this brand new year of engagements and weddings (yes, we’ve already had our first!)

But it just wouldn’t be fitting to herald in the New Year without properly saying farewell to the old.  And what a joyous ending it was!  Our very last wedding of 2015 was extra special in so many ways!

When Elizabeth (and Adam) first emailed about their upcoming wedding, it sounded magical.  An outside winter wedding at the lovely Magnolia Hall in Piedmont Park, with lots of cozy blankets to keep guests warm.  And pictures … those were really important – pictures that would capture their love for each other and for their families and friends that had come to celebrate and share in their special day. We’ve known Adam’s sweet family for many years and it was a double-delight getting to know Elizabeth (her smile lights up a room!) and her family!

Their wedding day was absolutely beautiful with a blue sky and puffy clouds – cool but not freezing (yay!) and every little detail so very special.  There were vintage fur wraps for the bridesmaids and tartan plaid ties, blankets, and bows that added that warm touch of holiday loveliness.  A perfect day from beginning to end … enjoy!

It was such a delight getting to know Lucy and Thomas this past year and we couldn’t wait for their wedding weekend!  (We love these two!) Lucy and Thomas are best friends of our dear friends so they immediately became ‘family’ to us.  We were blessed beyond measure to be a small part of their weekend celebration in Lucy’s beautiful, historic hometown of Madison, GA … It was all JOY from beginning to end!

And when we asked Lucy what she was looking forward to on her wedding day she said … ‘walking down the aisle, the ceremony, and DANCING!!!’  oh yeah …!

Some bright morning when this life is over
I’ll fly away
To that home on God’s celestial shore
I’ll fly away

I’ll fly away oh glory
I’ll fly away (in the morning)
When I die hallelujah by and by
I’ll fly away

These two.  Cute, cute, cute!  One of the most fun aspects of shooting weddings is the ‘before’.  Before all the hustle and bustle of ‘THE DAY’.  The before is getting to know our couples and their unique personalities in the months leading up to their wedding day.  It’s been such a treat corresponding with Betsy the past few months so when she mentioned bringing along bikes for their engagement session at Big Canoe, we knew it was going to be really special and FUN, FUN, FUN!  To top off all this excitement, we were so surprised (and thrilled!) when the blooming yellow wildflowers just happened to match the flowers that Betsy brought along and her lovely dress … what a perfect day!  We can’t wait for their November wedding at Sunny D Farm! xx

With all the excitement of this holiday season, we’re scurrying to post a handful of our most recent weddings from the past few weeks.  We have so many wonderful weddings to share, it’s hard to narrow down images for a quick blog post!

Betsy and Ralph were married last month at the beautiful Sunny D Farms in Williamson, GA.  We knew their day was going to be extra special … just because THEY are!  You may remember Betsy and Ralph from their Springtime engagement session at Big Canoe.   We just KNEW we were in for a treat on their wedding day!   If a wedding day could be all about FUN and laughter and JOY, then this was it!

Have you ever seen a bride having so much fun?!  Even when Betsy took a tumble, she never stopped smiling and laughing!  Now that’s HAPPINESS!

November weddings are always some of our favorites! Holiday excitement is in the air and everyone is looking forward to gathering together to celebrate with family and friends.  Sarah and Justin’s wedding day at The Chimneys in Big Canoe was absolutely beautiful!  Despite the severe drought and fires in the Southeast, the fall color lingered on and showcased their wedding ceremony with a spectacular golden backdrop!  It was the perfect exclamation point to such a special day!  xx

We’ve said it many times before but it’s always so special when we get to witness it again… a perfect wedding definitely doesn’t require perfect weather!  MC and Jim’s wedding day forecast was ‘not so good’ and the chance of rain around their ceremony start time was getting a bit ‘iffy’.  We knew we would need to grab as many picture opportunities as early as possible.  But the sweetest thing was … MC and Jim were as calm as cucumbers!  ;)   Nothing was going to spoil their day!

White Oaks Wedding

It was the most beautiful morning as we wended our way down the narrow tree lined driveway to the Blue Frog retreat tucked alongside the Chestatee River … the perfect place to host a family and friends wedding weekend! Lindsey and her bridesmaids were having a great time hanging out and taking turns with last minute hair and make-up – the beginning of a spectacular wedding day!

It’s been such a treat getting to know Anna and Matt this past year!  Rain seemed to be the theme for their engagement session and even their wedding day started off with cloudy skies and rain threatening to send their outdoor ceremony and reception indoors.  But the neatest thing about these two is that whatever the weather, they were going to have FUN and it was all going to be great!  As it turned out, the dark skies parted and the late day light was absolutely beautiful – just in time to get the shots we needed.  What a fabulous day of celebrating with family and friends!
